Nadia Nakai: It’s not often that we get musicians that have been in the game for a long time to create a record label, let alone quit one. Over the years, record labels like Family Tree, Ambitiouz Entertainment, and Mabala Noise, to mention a few, have launched and hosted many of the outstanding talents we have today, including A-Reece, Nasty C, Tshego, Nadia Nakai, Riky Rick, Emtee, Sjava, Saudi, Fifi Cooper, Blaq Diamond, and others.
Nadia Nakai announced her resignation from the stable on the second edition of Backyard Sessions with Siya Metane in July 2021, after being forced to quit Family Tree earlier this year. Because she was the only artist left under Cassper Nyovet’s wing at Family Tree, this was the first time she disclosed it publicly, and many admirers were left with mixed emotions. Nakai, on the other hand, stated that she would go independent and maybe create her own record company (which then she never had a name for)
Today, Nadia Nakai has stepped into her boss lady shoes and is reclaiming control of the male-dominated business by launching BRAGGA RECORDS, her newly founded firm and record label. Nadia is taking the next and most critical step into her new chapter, and she is hoping for the best.
Congratulations to this hardworking hip-hop musician, and may her path be blessed with many more rewards.
