Southampton has finalized the four-year signing of Brazilian defender Lyanco from Torino. The 24-year-old had a physical on Monday and was said to have attracted interest from Udinese and Watford over the summer.
Last season, the centre-back played 23 games in Serie A, helping Torino avoid relegation to Italy’s second division by finishing 17th.
Lyanco, a Brazil U23 international who won the Toulon Tournament in 2019, is Saints’ eighth summer signing, following the permanent signings of Adam Armstrong, Theo Walcott, Romain Perraud, Valentino Livramento, Dynel Simeu, and Thierry Small, as well as the loan signing of Armando Broja from Chelsea.
“I’m very glad to be here,” he remarked. Playing in the Premier League and for a team like Southampton has been a goal of mine since I first started playing football as a child.
“It’s a dream not only for me but for all my family too.
