Liverpool complete signing of right-back Calvin Ramsay

Calvin Ramsay, an 18-year-old right-back from Aberdeen, has joined Liverpool on a long-term agreement potentially up to £6.5 million.

Ramsay had a fantastic season, scoring one goal and assisting nine times in 33 appearances across all competitions as Aberdeen finished ninth in the Scottish Premiership.

Leeds, Bologna, and Sassuolo were among the clubs interested, but Liverpool emerged victorious in the race to capture the young Scot.

Ramsay has signed a five-year contract with Liverpool, with the club agreeing to a fee of £6.5 million, including different add-ons.

It will be a significant step up for the teenager, but one that he has shown he is capable of doing after settling into the first-choice place at Aberdeen.

He has now become the Scottish side’s club-record sale, surpassing Scott McKenna’s £3 million transfer to Nottingham Forest in 2020.

Neco Williams’ tenure at Liverpool is expected to come to an end with his arrival, with the Wales international set for a big-money exit following an excellent loan spell at Fulham.

Conor Bradley, on the other hand, is still a high-potential right-back prospect who might fight Ramsay for a long-term spot in the first squad.

Following a post-season vacation in Dubai, Ramsay is expected to join the Reds for the first day of pre-season on July 4.
