Juliet Bawuah has won the African Woman in Sport Award.

Juliet Bawuah, Group Head of Sports at Media General (TV3, 3FM, Onua FM, Onua TV, Connect FM, Akoma FM), has won the African Woman in Sport award at this year’s GSport Awards.

Juliet defeated South African footballer Ode Fulutudilu and Zimbabwean football administrator Violet Jubane in the competition, which took place in South Africa on Tuesday, August 31.

“It was an honor to receive the Imperial African Woman in Sport award at Friday night’s GSport Awards in South Africa. This is a victory for all African women who work hard to attain their goals in sports. Thank you to everyone who voted, especially the jury and the fans.

Kass Naidoo, a South African cricket presenter, launched the GSport Awards in 2006 to honour and promote African women in sport.

This year marked the 16th year of the award.

Juliet’s GSport award is the latest in a long line of accolades and nominations. It follows her recent nomination in the 2021 EMY Awards Young Achiever of the Year category.

Her other professional honors include being named to the 2020 International Sports Press Association (AIPS) Awards’ Video Short Feature Shortlist and Video Athlete Profile Shortlist. Previously, in 2019, she was the Top Ranked Entrant (Number 1 work in Africa, 7th in the World – Video Short Feature category); Finalist, Sports Journalist of the Year, National Communications Awards (2020, Ghana), Winner, Sports Journalist of the Year, National Communications Awards (2019, Ghana), Winner, Ghana Outstanding Women Awards (GOWA), Sports Journalist (2019), and Finalist, Ghana Outstanding Women Awards (GOWA), Sports Journalist (2019).

Juliet formerly worked at CITI FM, ETV, Metro TV, Goal, CafOnline, and Euronews’ sister channel, Africanews, before joining TV3. She also contributes to Premier League TV, LA Liga TV, the BBC, Aljazeera, and TRT in Turkey.

Juliet has received training from the Radio Netherlands Training Centre (RNTC) and is a graduate of the US State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
