On World Naked Trek Day in June 2021, personal development life coach Fanafikile Lephaka created history by organising Mzansi’s first-ever naked hike.
Following favorable feedback from hikers, Lephaka is planning a second naked trip and two-day camp between June 24 and 26.
Lephaka told City Press that the emotional side of the camp will be the most important feature, adding that the guys will not be in the due for the entire camp.
FANAFIKILE LEPHAKA’S NAKED HIKE
Last year, Fanakile Lephaka revealed that the naked hike was intended to push men to face their fears.
“Some men have body issues that they don’t talk about, it terrifies them to think that others will know about anything that’s ‘not normal’ with them. So by being nude, you are forced to get over that insecurity and be okay with ourselves.”
The naked hike, according to Lephaka, promotes brotherhood among the males and fosters unity.
On May 10, Lephaka said on Facebook that the hike was more than just about “hiking nude,” but also about healing.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS YEAR
The nude trek of Fanafikile Lephaka will take place in Qwa Qwa, Free State, from Friday, June 24 to Sunday, June 26. The emotional part of the hike, according to the life coach, is the most important to him.
“Many people carry too much baggage from childhood traumas or whatever. Anxiety is one of the issues we tackle at the camp.”
The registrants will only be naked for the three-hour trip on Saturday, June 25th, according to Lephaka.
The trek costs R2 500 per participant, which includes a tent, meals, venue fees, and logistics.
WORLD NAKED HIKE DAY
Every year on June 21, World Naked Hike Day is observed. To commemorate the day, outdoor enthusiasts from all around the world visit nude beaches and hike naked. Unfortunately for South Africans, there are certain nudity restrictions in Mzansi.
Public nudity is illegal in South Africa and is considered “indecent exposure,” according to the KwaZulu-Natal Naturist Association, although you can be nudist in the privacy of your own home or in a “acceptable” public venue.
